W.A.S.P. emerged on the L.A. hard rock scene in 1982. Unlike their peers at the time who deviated from their ‘70s heavy metal roots and went in the direction of pop music and ballads, W.A.S.P. set themselves apart by having a much edgier image and sound. Their unique image, sound, and shock rock horror-themed theatrics have made them legends.
W.A.S.P. has been pushing the limits and shocking the masses for decades with their macabre live shows. Led by frontman Blackie Lawless with his codpiece made like a buzzsaw blade that shoots sparks from it, throwing raw meat into the crowd and performatively torturing beautiful models tied to racks. Flash forward four decades later they continue to tour and wow audiences.
The forthcoming collection sees albums from the influential Capitol Records years consisting of the first five cutting-edge studio albums: W.A.S.P. (1984), The Last Command (1985), Inside the Electric Circus (1986), The Headless Children (1989), and The Crimson Idol (1992). Also included is a CD full of rare demos, B-sides, live tracks, and the Live… In The Raw (1987) CD.
Packaged in a sleek slipcase, the boxset delivers an immersive look into the band’s unique musical journey. It includes a superb 60-page hardback book, overflowing with exclusive high-quality print and photos, by acclaimed metal photographers such as Ross Halfin, Tony Mottram, David Plastik, and Paul Natkin, and original album artwork. The book also features new liner notes from Amit Sharma (Kerrang!, Planet Rock) and exclusive commentary from Blackie Lawless himself, offering further insight into the evolution of each album and the band’s enduring impact.
